Love me some vintage!

I've been searching for a cute swimsuit that is a) one-piece but b) you know, cute (and flattering!). I saw this one on Anthropologie,

but I'm a cheapskate and have a hard time justifying $150 for a swimsuit. So I checked Ebay, looked at Kohls, Walmart... but I was spoiled by having seen this incredible 40's-ish suit at Anthropologie.

So I googled "One piece swimsuit vintage style" and a whole slew of the results came from a website called:

They're mid-high end is the low end of Anthropologie and they have 1 and 2 piece suits that are super cute! They also happen to have casual clothes, prom dresses, wedding dresses, shoes and accessories. The vintage ranges from flapper 20's

to mod 60's,

even up to some rocker 80's.

They're prices seem incredibly reasonable given the product and apparently high quality. All their customer reviews are very high (of course, to a cynic like me I almost wonder if 10- 5star ratings on an item could be legit). Even then. I think I'm going to order this suit:

I'll let you know how my experience is. Oh! IF you do decide to order something through them LOOK AT THEIR SIZING!!! Go by your measurements, NOT your normal size, theirs run extremely small. (Not so good for your ego, but just ignore the number) :)

"Tiger's Curse" Book Review

Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck

This is an example of an author's dream... self publish and claim the #1 Kindle spot for childrens literature then have a publisher call YOU and say they want to launch their new imprint with a publication of your book. If only.

Anyhow, the actual book - totally teen and slightly cheesy, but I still enjoyed it. And toward the end, the characters actually started surprising me (at least the herione) and I feel like she made a pretty mature choice. Oh, and this book is refreshingly innocent. Kissing only. Not that I mind books that deal with more (as long it's done with taste and restraint), but it is refreshing to read one where they don't just jump in the sack, they kiss. It's sweet.

I would recommend this as a fun read for kids and adults alike.

Has it really been a month since my last post? And a movie review

Not that anybody missed me :) I've been so focused on catching up on my hours at work that I've had little time for anything else. Or energy (such as cleaning my bathrooms, putting laundry away (hey, let's face it, we're lucky it gets done)). Anyhow, here's a review at least for what turned out to be a surprisingly good movie:



"Triston + Isolde" - I ignored this when it first came out and quite a while afterwards, assuming it to be a preteen cheesefest of a sappy romance. I'm happy to report I was mistaken.
It's a smartly written romance with characters who do noble and mature things. Yes, they make mistakes, but when faced with the personal consequences, they "man up". I love that the characters aren't black and white ("this is the good guy so everything he does is sympathetic and good, this guy standing in the way of their love is mean therefore making their love affair more justifiable to the audience" you know, that tripe). James Franco, Sophia Myles, and Rufus Sewell bring pathos and reality to their characters. This is supposed to be the legend/story that Romeo and Juliet was based on, though there isn't any definitive version. If you want a good romance, I definitely recommend watching this if you didn't catch it the first time around, or rewatching it if you did.
